Section 135Schemes to be framed for the investigation of accident cases and wayside amenities, etc

Text of the section

Schemes to be framed for the investigation of accident cases and wayside amenities, etc.— (1) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make one or more schemes to provide for— (a) an in depth study on causes and analysis of motor vehicle accidents; (b) wayside amenities on highways; (c) traffic aid posts on highways; and (d) truck parking complexes along highways. (2) Every scheme made under this section by any State Government shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before the State Legislature.

Amended by the 2019 Amendment Act

In section 135 of the principal Act,— (i) in sub-section (1),— (a) in clause (c), the word “and” shall be omitted; Amendment of section 117. 68 of 1988. Substitution of new section for section 129. Wearing of protective headgear. Insertion of new section 134A. Protection of Good Samaritans. Amendment of section 135. 18 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II— (b) in clause (d), for the word “highways”, the words “highways; and” shall be substituted; and (ii) after clause (d), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— “(e) any other amenities in the interests of the safety and the convenience of the public.”; (iii) after sub-section (2), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:— “(3) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make one or more schemes to conduct in-depth studies on the causes and analysis of road accidents.”. 47.
